Saints United would like to extend our thanks to our generous congregation who have recently donated 83 dinners to Aid For Friends. We are proud to support this important ministry in our community.
The mission of Aid for Friends (AFF) is to alleviate the hunger and loneliness of isolated homebound individuals. Their volunteers visit with client friends throughout the five-county Greater Philadelphia region, providing home-cooked meals and life-enhancing friendship. All services are provided free of charge.
Meals are prepared by volunteers, stored in freezers in churches throughout the region as well as at Aid For Friends headquarters and then picked up and distributed by visitor volunteers in once weekly visits to their client friends. Most of our friends are elderly individuals who could not otherwise remain in their homes without the support of the meals we provide.
Through the generous support of donors and volunteers, they serve over 2,000 homebound friends currently providing them a weekly visit and a daily meal. Since their founding in 1974, they have served over 15 million meals to more than 14,000 homebound friends.
