Dear Friends,
Here we are in the month of November already! My heart is heavy these days because of all the things we had to go through these past few months. We are still dealing with this COVID-19 virus (I thought it would have been over by Easter—how wrong was I?). We are still dealing with racial issues, inequality, and unrest. The presidential elections have caused much uproar (hopefully you have voted today). In addition, each of us has to work through our own individual or family issues and problems.
Even though we are back in worship, there is much we do not do, from congregational singing to the passing of the peace. (I am thankful we are able to live stream the service at least.) I miss doing home visits, senior residences, and hospital visits with those who are unable to come to church. And I miss hugs.
Please know that I continue to offer prayers for the world, our country, and all in need. Each and every one of you is carried deeply in my heart.
As we continue to journey in the midst of a global pandemic and wait anxiously for the presidential election results, I am reminded as Thanksgiving approaches that we still have much to be thankful for. We are abundantly given life’s necessities by the God who loves all beyond compare. We have food, family, friends, and roofs over our heads. The changing seasons are a gift which I especially appreciate, except for the heavy snow. And finally, I am truly grateful for each of you and give thanks to God for you!
Please continue to raise up your prayers to the God who hears them all, asking God to care for our country in times such as these. God bless you all and know that I cannot wait until this pandemic is over!
In Christ,
Pastor Hopkins
